L.A. Noire

L.A. Noire is a video game for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 developed by Team Bondi in conjunction with Rockstar Games and published by Rockstar Games. As the title suggests, the game draws heavily from both plot and aesthetic elements of film noir – stylistic films from the 1940s and 1950s that shared similar visual styles and themes including crime, sex and moral ambiguity and were often shot in black and white with harsh, low-key lighting.

The game uses a distinctive colouring-style in homage to the visual style of film noir, including the option to play the game in black-and-white. The post-war setting is the backdrop for plot elements that reference the detective films of the '40s (as well as James Ellroy's novel L.A. Confidential and the Curtis Hanson film based on it), such as corruption and drugs, with a jazz soundtrack.

L.A. Noire is also notable for using Lightsprint's real-time global illumination technology, as well as Depth Analysis's newly developed technology for the film and video game industries called MotionScan, where actors are recorded by 32 surrounding cameras to capture facial expressions from every angle.

GAMEPLAY

L.A. Noire takes place in 1947 Los Angeles, a city of glamour, fame, and wealth, but also where crime, vice, and corruption are rife. The player assumes the role of LAPD Police Officer and later Detective Cole Phelps. The game starts with Phelps as a uniformed patrolman, and follows his career as he advances through the police departments bureaus of Traffic, Homicide, Vice, and finally Arson. Each new desk gives the player a new partner who will help Phelps in his investigations.

The game blends investigative elements such as mystery and crime solving, with fast-paced action sequences, including on-foot and car chases, hand-to-hand combat, and gunfights. In addition to the storyline missions, the player can work on optional side-investigations following a call from dispatch, known as Street Crimes. The player can travel on foot, as well as in various cars that are unlocked as Phelps progresses through the police departments. The player also has a total of ten detective suits available; an initial six, plus another four downloadable ones. The suits are equipped with special abilities, such as increased damage protection and increased aim when firing a gun.

Unlike Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto series, the player cannot freely create chaos and kill civilians with weapons and cars, as the character is a police detective. Weapons are only allowed in appropriate circumstances and only when a player is working on a case where a weapon is warranted.

LA Noire: Official Story Trailer

The Witcher 2 - Assassins of kings

A video shows Assassins of Kings was terminated on 16 September 2009, is before the game was officially announced. According CD project was the video for potential publishers, and had thought about six months been established before it was leaked. It was using a "very early alpha version of the game, and the voices were from CD instead of the final project staff provided on those. CD project released a short FAQ in response to the leak, but said that apart from the fact that they "do not plan material will be published shortly." The game itself was said to be "still deep in development" should and people "do not expect the game early."

The game was announced officially on 24 March 2010, with a number of articles and videos appearing. A two-minute trailer was released on GameTrailers, and articles (with accompanying video and screenshots) have been released in English, Polish, and Russian.

The official CDPR forum was launched on March 23, 2010 along with the official trailer. An official website followed in April.

The platforms on which the game will be released have been confirmed for PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. The PC version will arrive first in May 2011. The console versions are TBA.

-The game features timed conversations, with a default response being used if players do not choose an option within a certain length of time. Players are not presented with the full, exact line that Geralt will deliver, instead choosing from among short summaries.

-The combat system has been reworked, being "much more open-ended" and which "will no longer require the timed input of the original game".

-The "sex cards" are not returning, although Geralt still has opportunities for encounters. These will involve cutscenes.

-According to a Polish preview, it will be possible to import saved games from the first game, although the exact mechanics of this system have not been detailed yet.

-Fighting alongside companions will receive greater emphasis, although they will still act autonomously rather than be under the control of the player. How players relate to these companions (both in conversations and elsewhere) can open up quests and affect the game's ending.

-Meditation can now be done anywhere, provided there are no enemies nearby to prevent it.

-Geralt can now climb over walls and other such obstacles.
